Our Ongoing Call to Actions

Kwara South Clean Energy Hub

The Kwara-South Clean Energy Development hub is a proposed energy center providing pilot execution of a 10mW Mini Grid Substation and a learning development hub to promote Energy Access, coordinated delivery and aligns to the Mission 300 initiative to connect 300 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa to electricity by 2030.

CALL TO ACTION

Unlocking Africa's Economic Promise

Invest in seed capital development for the proposed 10MW Clean Energy Hub for Kwara South

Distinguished partners and leaders, we stand at a crucial moment. While progress has been made, over 600 million Africans still lack access to electricity, representing a persistent challenge to economic development. We cannot afford to simply hope for progress; we must drive it.

This proposed 10MW mini-grid project in Kwara State, Nigeria, is not just another energy project—it is a strategic investment in a self-sustaining ecosystem of growth, fully aligned with the World Bank’s Mission 300 goals and poised for success under the Country Partnership Strategy Framework (CPSF).

This is a call to action to move from pledges to tangible impact.

The Ask: Mobilize Strategic Capital and Expertise

We are seeking a multi-faceted partnership with the World Bank, Kwara South Senatorial District Leaders  and private sector investors to:

  • Secure blended financing to bridge the initial capital expenditure (CAPEX) gap, leveraging concessional financing and risk guarantees to crowd in private sector investment.
  • Provide technical assistance to optimize the hybrid energy system and scale the productive use of energy (PUE) initiatives.
  • Offer capacity-building support for the accompanying training center, helping to build a skilled local workforce and ensure long-term operational sustainability.

The Opportunity: Driving Impact at Scale

By investing in this project, we will directly contribute to the core objectives of Mission 300 and the World Bank's agenda:

  • Empower Productive Economies: Kwara South, a region with high agricultural potential, will use reliable energy to power food processing, manufacturing, and other small-scale industries. This will create jobs, increase incomes, and reduce reliance on expensive, polluting diesel generators.
  • Create Self-Sustaining Growth: Our training center component goes beyond just providing power. It will equip local entrepreneurs and technicians with the skills to maintain the infrastructure and build new businesses, creating a multiplier effect that fosters a resilient local economy.
  • Ensure Inclusive Development: The hub's design, including its metered system and accessible tariff structure, ensures that energy reaches underserved households, schools, and health clinics. This advances social equity and improves quality of life for all community members.
  • Demonstrate a Scalable Model: The hybrid solar-CNG model, combined with an integrated training hub, provides a blueprint for rapid, reliable electrification that can be replicated across Africa's underserved regions. The initial success in Kwara can pave the way for a wave of similar, commercially viable projects.

The Time is Now: Act to Accelerate Progress

The Nigeria energy market is maturing, with robust regulatory frameworks and growing investor confidence making it ripe for significant investment. The World Bank's recent $750 million loan for solar mini-grids in Nigeria shows strong institutional support and a clear path forward.

We have the technology, the market demand, and a clear, viable plan. What we need now is your partnership to unlock the final piece of the puzzle: strategic capital and expertise. Let us collaborate to turn this blueprint for Kwara South into a beacon of progress for Africa, demonstrating that decisive action today can power a susta

inable and prosperous future.
